NT does not officially support USB ports. Some devices provided custom drivers, but you really need to upgrade to 2000/XP for full USB support.

Sorry for the bad news, but if you need to use something simple like a USB flash drive or hard drive you can find free drivers on the internet. They may not work for your device, but it might be worth your time to look.

Did the ports used to work and than stopped working ?
If so I'd try reinstalling the drivers.
If it never worked you'd have to check if there are NT drivers available either with the MB manufacturer ( if integrated USB ) or the card provider if USB is from an add-on card.
