I found an awesome virtual machine thing, but I don't know what it was nor how I came across it. I remember a few features-you enabled it and it wouldn't go away until system restart, and secondly it was supposedly rated as the best at reducing memory leaks and other security threats. It advertised "try out those programs your not so sure about and see how they work in a safe environment", though not word-for-word.

Even if you can't find this exact thing, I would then appreciate what you would best recommend for a virtual machine program for Windows Vista. Thanks!

Are you asking about running other operating systems as Virtual PCs on Windows Vista. If yes, are you planning on running other operating systems besides Windows?

Grumpy

Nope, I mean turning my Vista into a virtual environment, in which all changes erase after a restart.

MS makes Virtual PC and I think it is free?

and of course there is the leader in VM - VMWare.

Never tried Vista on a VM - it's my main os - but I run XP and Ubuntu on VMware under Vista and it works great.

Thanks, but I don't mean making a virtual Windows Vista; I mean making my Vista into a virtual environment, in which all changes erase after a restart.

Again-I did not mean virtualizing Vista! This is exactly what I'm looking for, though, and thanks a lot!

Is this the best program of this type that there is?

Yes, I get you know Max. Didn't read the post closely enough, sorry. I have never tried sandboxie I just know it is popular for doing what you asked.

Max the Rabbit is my son's all time favorite character. He used to use the nick too MaxtheRabbit. Loved the Sam and Max game.

deep freeze is a software solution, which erases all changes to the system after a reboot.

a reborn card can do the same, but is implemented in hardware
