No Sound on VM running Win98

Forum Windows 95/98/ME : General Discussion No Sound on VM running Win98

I recently put Windows 98 on VMWare and noticed I have no sound. I also have Windows XP on VMWare, sound works fine.
I'm not sure how I would go about getting sound. One game I play says it can't find the drivers, but I also do not know how to find drivers for Win98 running on a VM.

Thanks for any help! :D

I used a different website, and had the sound working for a while. Once I closed out of VMWare and reopened it, it no longer worked. It shows all the same settings, but no sound comes out.

I would try again with the official VMWare instructions above.

This reminds me, I have been meaning to install a copy of Win98 into VirtualBox. . .

Unsure of what driver I would need from the creative website. The VMWare website only gave me a link to their homepage.

Hmm, that VMWare page said to use a driver for the Ensoniq AudioPCI, and when I went to the Creative Labs website it took one minute to find the driver.

"Your Operating System is not supported. Please upgrade to Windows XP or later before resuming this download."

OK, so Creative has a stupid website! ;) Download on another PC and then copy it to the Windows 98 VM.

That is what I did.

I have the installer on my desktop but when I install it, it gives that message.
