More Information

Hey all.

So I'm getting ready to buy all the parts for my new rig and I'm planning on getting 64bit Vista to install on it. What I'm most concerned about is that one or some of the parts might not be Vista compatible or that some aspect of my build will cause me endless headaches. SO - to avoid such blunders I'm kindly turning to any Vista experts or persons of knowledge to please check over my system and let me know if everything looks A-OK or if I need to keep on tweaking. Thank you all so much in advance for helping me out, your knowledge, tips and hints are always much appreciated.

First of all, if you can wait then I would suggest doing so. Nov/Dec Intel will be releasing their new CPU/mobo and Nvidia will release their new video card. Even if you don't want the "latest & greatest" atleast the prices will drop on the old hardware.

Second, you can do alot of the research yourself just by going to the manufacturers site and seeing that they have drivers for Vista 64.

My only question would be why Premium and not Ultimate?

1) Don't get Intel for 64 Bit anything unless you want problems. (its emulated 64Bit)
2) AMD's Quad core is coming in a few weeks/ 1 month and the design is better then Intels.
3) Only get an Intel if yo want 32Bit, and if Intel wants to stay in the 4 Core market with their new design it better be a revised and remade version. And if your going Intel just throw your money into a Quad core, might as well.
4) Get Ultimate
5) Get more Ram for 64Bit

I'm not a nazi for AMD or anything, I'm just saying... I have spent a month or so looking into the differences between Intel & AMD Quad Core. AMD is the one with better 64Bit support. As for Vista + 64Bit your gonna need 4+GB memory at a minimum for gaming.

If you do go with AMD heres a list of AM2+ compatible Motherboards. You wont have to replace your whole system for a AMD quad's when they are released.
