lo ppl,

no idea if anyones played with this yet, but personally whenever i setup my XBox360 to use Vistas Media Center function i always have this problem with Aspect ratios on Videos.

my Xbox 360 is running on a widescreen HD TV but whenever i decide to run a video through Media Center it plays it in 4:3 ratio, so i've typically got 2 bars down the side of the screen.

and if im playing a widescreen video im watching a screen with 2 bars up the top, and 2 bars down the side.... leaving me with about 3inches of viewable TV screen!

when i decide to run a picture slideshow.... it uses the full widescreen, no problems at all.

so why whenever i run videos through Media Center does it run them in 4:3 ratio? ive checked all the settings i could find & theres no Aspect options

also the lack of Codecs in Media Center on the Xbox 360 is horrible, ive ripped 6 of my DVDs onto my external HDD (esspecially for Media Center) & there all unknown codec/format etc, anyone know where i can get codecs for them?

So, short version...

How can i change the Aspect ratio on my Xbox 360 Media Center Videos (Pictures arnt affected) to Widescreen?

How can i get more codecs so my Xbox 360 can read my video files?

any help would be great.

Dude

Is your display device (tv/monitor) set to automatically display in 16:1 or 4:3 or does it select the correct format automatically?

The reason I ask is that some TV's need to be told to display in a specific format otherwise they will default to old fashioned 4:3 ratio as the media being displayed was recorded/broadcast that way.

My Sony dispalys foreign sporting programmes in 4:3 until I change the aspect ratio.

I’m pretty sure you should be able to set/force your TV to Display all images displayed in one type of format  (e.g 16:1)
