More Information

I used Intervideo Win DVD creator and after burning my movie to a DVD the quality on the TV stinks! I also have Sony Moviemaker but decided to try this WinDVD instead. I have yet to burn a movie to disc with the Sony program. How much of the quality is from the software?

I burned the movie at 2x speed and then tried again with the "optimal speed" setting and both times the quality looks like someone 8mm home movies from 1972.

When I plug the camcorder into the TV the picture is phenomenal so I know it's not my camcorder.

Any suggestions?

<edit> I just checked the videos that are on my computer from the camera and they are mpg files, NOT avi files. Could that be the challenge?

Some software will reduce the quality in order to get more on a DVD. Make sure you have the burn setting on the highest quality. If the file is to large for the disk, edit it down so it wll fit at the highest quality. I'd re-capture the video from the cam first. Make sure there are no other programs running.
