Can anyone give any tips or recomendations (other than "do not hack" ) for a begginer. I am using Gentoo and Kubuntu. The programs I am using are Kismet, Airsnort, Aircrack. Does anyone know of any other hacking tools? Not just for wireless or internet.

My attorney asked me to advise you never to break the law.

Having said that, it is legal to perform penetration testing on your own systems.

My attorney advises you not to type "brute force password cracker" into Google.
You should also not type in "port scanners", "backdoor access" (unless you're looking for p0rn), or "botnet script".

Also, you should only ever use Kismet, Airsnort and Aircrack to test the integrity and security of your wireless network.

just like i do

Jocking aside, please do not break the law and always act in an ethical manner.

My attorney asked me for too much money, so I ran nmap on his server. He cought me and said there wasn't much I could do, but if I ran nessus on his server, he would serve me. I guess he musta googled nmap and nessus, but he could have just grabbed them and installed from rpmfind, sorceforge, or even his Linux install disks. He don't know about snort.

Always were a white hat. A black hat will get you nothing but trouble. No matter how schmardt you are and how much you know (or think you know), there is always someone out there who is better, and he is schmardt enough to wear a white hat. Always ask permission before doing any cracking, scanning or anything of the like on any systems you do not personally own.

Also, although the term hacking has been so misused it doesn't much matter, I believe you are interested in cracking. Cracking is the act of breaking into a system. Hacking used to mean to learn about something, and make it work. A computer hacker was a geek who could get a computer to actually do something meaningful, which was quite a challenge a few years back. I'm a hack. Most of us are. I also do cracking, but only for legitimate reasons (ie as requested by the owner of the computer or account).
