Why dont you try doing some homework is study hall, you might learn something. Maybe you could read a book in study hall about how to crack that firewall.

Setup your home network as a proxy server. If you need to use: Dyndns.org on your home network if you don't have a static IP. Then use your home proxy as the proxy at school... OR Setup your home PC so you can RDP into it. Chances are he has port 3389 open.

If they have IE or Firefox settings locked down use a LiveCD (Unbuntuu) or make your own... to boot the PC...

They blocked this stuff for a reason, maybe you should follow the rules and read a book???

BTW.. Back in my day we didn't have computers in study hall...

looks like you should be studying or doing your school work and doing what you're supposed to be doing, like the computer guy.

Chances are... the only open ports are the those that have been explicitly opened.

Why even bother to give him a clue as to how to circumvent security?

I'd rather point out that even attempting to circumvent it will likely result in suspension from school. The attempt is also punishable by law.

My employer uses a SonicWALL 2040 for antivirus enforcement, content filtering and various other security related roles and I must admit it seems to do an admirable job. You'll want the administrative password to access it... you're on your own on that one. Once you have that if it's like our SonicWALL (I believe it will be) there is an option to exclude an IP from SonicWALL's content filter. If you turned off all security functionality, the change would be immediately noticeable. If you just exclude an IP address or two, the changes are hidden deep enough within the interface that they will likely go unnoticed.

I believe "admin/password" is the default username/password combination, but I highly doubt you'll get that lucky. If you want to take a few guesses at the password, you'll need to type in the IP address of the SonicWALL in your browser. Odds are this is your default gateway listed under your TCP/IP properties.

Good luck fighting the man.

Don't end up getting kicked out of school so you can chat with your friends online. Right now I'm sure you could care less about us telling you to study and make something of yourself but in 10 years you'll be wishing you listened.

or, you can just do aim.com and use the aim chat express, no downloads...fi he blocked the site u can use a BYPASS site for it...google it

and, its really not that big of a deal, i feel u on it, but i never had a laptop in study hall (ide probably be doing the same thing.)

They blocked myspace for our school, within 2 or 3 days i figured a site to bypass it.... that got blocked (i told to many gits) and another site :)

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT the man man man

man, dont chat on AIM at school. to be honest i hope you get caught trying to get past the stuff and you get suspended from school or kicked out of the district (bet yer folks would love that). you should be smoking reefer like normal kids.

Not that I support this, but just to help the poor guy

Go to peacefire.org and follow the steps to make your own circunventor. That way, whenever you go to school and have that class, you turn your PC on in the morning with the circunventor activated (let say www.Ilovefirewallbypass.com) and when u get to your class just type the circunventor page and you will be able to surf on any page.

I dont know about bypassing the AIM, but for MSN messenger you can go to msn.webmessenger and try (in my school, it worked :P)

Here is how you go about it.
1.) Bribe the SA.
2.) Claim AIM has educational value and demand he open the ports back up.
3.) Set up your home router to accept VPN connections, connect to your home network and use that network free of pesky firewalls.
4.) Drop out and spend all day at home on AIM. (my favorite)
5.) get physical access to the sonic firewall and upload your own custom created firmware that you designed (because since you dont need to study, I assume you have alternative skills that will help you later on).
6.) Work and study real hard in the IT field until you are competent enough to take over the SA's job and then you can open up the network to all the kids of the next generation so they can view youtube, talk on AIM, send email, play games..... at school... you know... instead of doing what your parents pay for... LEARNING.

If you arn't learning in school because you are too busy messing with chat programs, then you are effectively in a baby-sitting institution at what, 16yr old? thats kinda sad. I would rather be in school at that age then being babysat.

I know how he feels.

When I used to have computer class, I would finish doing every work and there was nothing to do but chill.

People wanted to chat cause most of the work took less than 1 hour to do it (1 hour at max), then we had 90 mins to do nothing but sit and stare at each other.

Hopefully some people (including me later on) brought some LAN games which brought happiness to us.

Now, games were allowed by the teacher only after the work was done and only in that class (not on any other PC in school) so I think that was pretty nice from school.

Call me Ishmael.

WOW you hated school.......and now look at you.......

Your a Chef 8O

I suggest that this kid finds better things to do with his spare time. Like leave the damn computer alone and go find a girl friend.

I dont know why people hate school, I know there are reasons

For me, I hated it because of homeworks, I HATE HOMEWORKS! THEY TAKE YOUR AFTERNOON TIME WAAA!!! IS HORRIBLE!

but, talking to people and spend a good time is cool.

I dont know about you people but whenver I was sick on school days, I wish I wasnt cause morning went on sooooo slow and watching TV for hours wasnt that funny and I spent most of the time boring at home.
