I have FC5 installed with default software packages.
when I try to add software packages it tries toretrive the software packages but fails. dispalys an erro message

FC5 uses yum and yum tries to download new packages from an FC5 mirror, however if you are not connected to the internet or do no have broadband it's not going to work or if it does work will be very slow.

You can still install packages from the FC5 installation CDs or from the DVD.

You can simply copy the RPMs from the install CDs to your hard drive and then run:

yum localinstall rpmfile1 [rpmfile2] [...]

# or

yum localupdate rpmfile1 [rpmfile2] [...]

man yum

# or

info yum

# for more information


# you can also install RPMs by hand however you may have dependency issues

rpm -Uvh package_name.rpm
