Hello anyone

I am planning to upgrade my computer. I have chosen a MSI motherboard which has a RAM memory standard of DDR2 667 support but i want to purchse CORSAIRS RAM which has Speed DDR2 675 (PC2 5400)...Will this cause a problem or will it function. I am confused. I look forward for your emergent reply.

The best way to check RAM compatibility is to go to the mfg website, in this case CORSAIRS, enter the mfg/model number of your mobo, and it should tell you all the RAM that is compatible.

I would also recommend checking these and MSI's forums. I know some of the new boards are picky, should I say strict, on the 1.8v +-0.1v standard and may not post if more is required, though once into BIOS setup some mobos allow you to set the voltage and timings to that required by your modules.

I have a MSI P6N SLI Platinum, using PDP Systems (Patriot) PDC22G6400LLK PC-6400 (DDR-800) DDR2 RAM. It boots without additional voltage on this mobo.

If you seek further assistance you should post the specifics of your system, or what you are planning to buy/having trouble with/etc. so people know and do not have to go back and forth in a Q and A. In your case: make, model, mfr, and versions of the mobo and ram.

I've had a couple of ASUS mobos and this MSI and when it comes to customer support, neither are worth a fart.

If you can afford it, you might want to look at either a 965 or 650i mobo, both of which are newer than the 945.

I've never used Corsair nor OCZ, but from the forums (here, Anandtech, MSI, and ASUS) it seems OCZ has been experiencing problems with their parts. Corsair XM2 modules were also one of the modules with the most FTB compaints on the 680 and 650SLI mobos, so I went with Patriot. The price was right as well!

Like g-paw said, check the Corsair site and their configuration utility, as well as the mobo manufactures site for the test report(s) on memory for that board (usually a PDF). I see you are building an SFF box so choices of mobos is limitted, but I agree with g-paw, again; I'd want one of the more current chipsets.
