That's quite a setup? Could you donate your extra cash to me? I wouldn't mind money toward my cheap-arsch $900 computer in a month!

More Information

sure,
could you just post your bank account number and routing number...
I would be glad to make a deposit...

If I could pull that one off, I could probably buy a few more PCs just like the one I just did....

More Information

What money in my bank account? All 12$ in there?

I'm a poor kid... you won't get much from my bank account (not that withdraws are allowed without parental permission).

I'm looking at some places to make extra cash; so far racked up $15 in free-time.

More Information

Keep at it..
Every dollars counts...
I worked a ton of overtime hours to save enough to afford this rig...
Hard work has to pay off sometime.... now is my time :D

More Information

That looks to me like a rig that will be top of the line...

For four weeks.

Then R600, K8L, new C2D line-up, 8900GT/8600Ultra will come out (All in the next four-six weeks) and your system will be sub-par for double the cost.

People that spend $300 on a single 8900GT will get the same performance as your big huge high-temperature (Pretty much as hot as lava) 8800GTX SLI set up, and with a processor that cost them 1/6th of the cost of your processor.

But I hope you enjoy the rig. If you're really intent on dumping 5 grand into a rig that will last 6 weeks, be my guest.

But just so you know, half the people here are going to be able to match/beat your rig in benchmarks for half the cost.

Also, why such a big LCD monitor? Why not spend 1200-1300 on a 1080i DLP projector TV or an LCD TV that has DVI support for computers? You'll have a 42-50" viewable screen with HD support.

You should honestly just get an E6600 and learn how to over-clock. E6600's over-clocked are actually the fastest processors out right now. (They over-clock higher than the QX6700/6800 and they also get better benchmarks in programs that COUNT.)

I would also not spend nearly a grand on two GPU's that are likely to be outdated in only 4-6 weeks. Trust me, people that bought the 7800GTX/GTS were GREATLY disappointed when the revised G70 core came out not even 3 months later with the 7900GT/GTX that pretty much DESTROYED the 7800GTX/GTS in every benchmark, ran cooler and they were at the MOST, $300. (Versus the 7800GTX's launch price @ 550+$)

Expect a $300 8900GT to come out, that will outperform the 8800GTX.

More Information

BTW the Thermaltake Armor Extreme Edition is designed for AMD QuadFX MOBO's but will work. Do you really need a 1000W PSU. 8O

More Information

All good points.
My last computer just died and I needed a new desktop PC sooner rather than later.

I could have gone much less, no doubt about it. I've never overclocked so that really wasn't a big option for me.
Basically, I could wait until the R600 or the 8900 series comes out and then I could wait for the R700 and the 9000 series and then I could wait for the R800 and the 9100 series.
You have to dive in at some point. I needed it now and I bought the best available.
PC, even the best built, will never be considered top of the line in 6 months regardless.
The only thing I can feel good about is it's not gonna be outdated anytime soon. It should last me at least 2-3 years of good service.

Thanks for the input though, honestly.

More Information

Gegitech,
I've been toying with getting the parts I wanted for about 2 weeks.
I've had a few different posts with different rigs.
The most comments I got originally on a 750W PSU was that I should get a 1000W PSU.
The second most commented on was RAM. Many said the Corsair PC8888 was the best out there and convinced me to switch.

More Information

300watt change over ram? :?

More Information

It shouldnt matter to anyone wether their computer is top of the line or not, aslong as it plays games at the levels that they like to play them then they should consider themselves having a good machine. The fight for having the top of the line hardware is a wastefull battle, wastefull cash wise, but if you are rich.....why the hell not. I probably wont be upgrading for awhile, as I am dedicating more cash resources into pimping out my civic.

PC8888 :?

Thats Fast

I'd switch to that in a heartbeat if I could get it.

Gegitech

no sorry, you misunderstood.

I had posted a rig similar with a 750W PSU. Many people told me to go to 1000W.

I also had toyed with a few different RAMs, but everybody has their favorites and I like Corsair. They all suggested to go to the PC8888 ram.

They two recommendations were not really related, just the two most popular recommendations.

8O Holy crap! That's a screaming beast of a system you have there. I'm sure she will serve you well into the future.

Real pimps don't drive civics.

More Information

Its just a little over kill. I would say You would need a PSU that big if you had a huge raid accompanying that PIMPED rig. Put the icing on it with a nice Liquid Cooling system seeing you have 2 8800gtx and a quad core that is begging to be overclocked.

Also I think its PC800 Ram

More Information

I just figured I could put my PC in the trunk of my car every morning and if I ever left my lights on, no problem with the 1000W PSU. In all seriousness, I just wanted to be sure because the 2 8800GTX really pull a lot of juice. Most people told me not to go less than that on this board.

PC800 RAM? not sure what you mean

it's PC2 8888; DDR2 1111 MHz 4-4-4-12.
