why wont my ford telstar 2L turbo 1986 model engine start after changing the head gasket and putting a aftermarket turbo on it a garret ar 48? Does it have oxygen sensors or oil sensors? also overheating after taking thermostat out and waterpump is working fine

How can it overheat and water pump work fine if it wont start? Please clear-up that confusion so you can get help.
