Hi all,
 
Having a problem with my computer.  I turned on the computer, and on the post screens, the windows xp 'loading' screen, there are strange vertical lines of different colors on it.  At the point when it should get to the login, the entire screen gets distorted, the screen flashes, and then eventually I get a flashing dark greenish screen that says there was a divide by zero error by (I think) NV_DISP4.dll or something similar.
 
On the occasions when I have gotten the system to boot up, it seems to work somewhat normally, but then while web browsing (if i scroll up or down) the words/pictures get jumbled up, and the screen starts flashing, then the system crashes to the green screen of death again.  I tried loading up a few 3d games.  Sometimes, it will start normally, let me log in and start playing, then the screen will flicker a few times, the video gets completely distorted, and again, a hard crash.
 
What's strange (to me anyhow) is that I can log in in safe mode with networking perfectly, and everything seems to work as advertised.  No messed up pictures or anything.  Still though, on the startup screens before safe mode finishes loading, I've got those vertical lines on the screen.
 
If anyone has any idea what may be wrong with the computer, I'd really appreciate some tips.  My gut feeling is that my video card overheated somehow and isn't working right anymore.  Brief system specs to follow, please advise if you need more info.
 
Oh yes, things I've tried so far:
 
-uninstall and reinstall of video drivers (using the ones on the dell support website - the ones that have worked since I bought the computer).  Used drivercleaner to completely uninstall.
 
-complete format and reinstall of windows XP, followed by SP2, then all the system drivers / video drivers / etc.
