' evening all. I'd appreciate guidance or gen from
anyone. I'm a road warrior who lugs a (heavy) laptop +
projector etc around to make presentations, run training
sessions etc.

I want to replace the laptop with something like a dell
axim x50v running windowsmobile. The prime consideration
is capability to run powerpoint shows, hooked up to the
projector.

Any additional functionality which provides
phone/internet connections would be useful, and leisure
listening/viewing stuff, a bonus.

Anybody do this already? Does it stack up? Any
recommendations or pitfalls to avoid ?

You should be able to do this on any PocketPC device. I have an HP Jornada
567 (PocketPC 2002) with a Voyager CF VGA card and have both Conduits Pocket
Slides and Westtek viewers installed. A projector would be ideal, but I'm
currently using a portable LCD TV as a display. If you're looking for
builtin WiFi or Bluetooth, a newer model would be preferable. The main
requirement I'd recommend would be make sure to get a device with a CF slot.
While there are SD VGA devices, I'd imagine they'd be quite fragile.

You can also look at Margi's Presenter-to-Go product.

You can use Margi's presentation software with it or use the more popular
Westek ClearVue Office Suite.

Most of these CF cards come with cables through which you connect to either
VGA display monitor/projector or through Video-out mode to a TV.
