Is it possible to do active sync over my wifi network rather than using the
USB cable all the time? My PDA has bluetooth and wireless and I have a
wireless network at home.

Really... I have never had that experience... I use WPA-PSK (TKIP), with a very long random ASCII
key (>25 alpha, numeric and special characters) with my iPAQ 5555 and a Buffalo WBR-G54 wireless
access point/router...

Wireless ActiveSync is very fast...

Same here, I have had no speed loss due to using wep or wpa, then again I
have seen different access points handle wep/wpa in different ways. I'm
using linksys' wap54g's and wrt54g's and have had very good success so far.

the problem I come across is the name of the PC, It does not allow me to
enter one here

the drop down is blank and I cant type my PCs name in.

maybe this is because I'm using activesync in Guest mode?

I have followed these instructions and got it to work - many thanks.
I would like to get Activesync to start up (and stay connected) as soon as a
wifi network connection is established - in a manner similar to what it does
with a usb connection. Is this possible? I can get it to maintain the
connection but nit seems to need either a manual or scheduled sync. (with a
minimum wait 5 mins for a scheduled one) to kick off the process. Any way
around this?

I want to diconnect the usb cable completely.

Its strictly a manual process to start it. That is by design... You can configure AS on the PocketPC
to stay connected in the AS session once it is established...

Note that if you configure this for a scheduled sync the device will turn on and try to sync. This
could potentially be a problem which might cause the battery to be drained... I don't do that, so
you might experiment a bit with it...Also check your power settings for when the device is on
battery power, ie. turn off after X minutes...
