Hello everyone I just recently built a system around the X2 3800+ Socket AM2. The goal of this thread is to help everyone out there with their AM2 overclocking. I am also new to overclocking and this new platform and I have many questions myself. I want to thank everyone in advance. I would also like to say that what I have working is unique to me and not everyone is going to get the same results I have. I would also like to ask posters to refrain from flaming me because I am only out to help people and get help for myself. Thank you.

I am currently reporting a CPU max Load temp of 50C - 52C. I found a good CPU testing program called Prime95. The one problem is that its only running on 1 of the cores. So im assuming this program doesnt support multi threading and is limited to the power of a single core. I am getting these temperatures from Easy Tune 5 which sucks in my opinion, but oh well.

you have to run to instances of prime 95. Create 2 folders for it and run both of them at the same time so it runs on both cores |

You're either using an old version of prime95 or haven't read the readme file. You do not need to install to two directories, just run it with the -A command line option.

I run a 4000+, which at stock speeds is the same as a 3800+ but has 2 MB of cache. Last night I was able to push it up to 2.5Ghz with an HT of x4 and ram at 667 is now at 832. I ran prime95 for 12 hours and didn't get any errors. I have an M55 board and i'm going to try your advanced options trick tonight. I think that I can push this thing up to 2.6 easy......with the 2mb of cache that would make this......A 5200+.....or some poop like that. Also, my new enermax psu just arrived today, so i'm sure i can get a little better results. |

Oh yeah, last night I got my 4000+ up to 2.6 buy using the key combination in the bios to unlock more features. I have the core at 1.5 volts and it ran 2xPrime95 for 9 1/2 hours without a single error. The ram is set to 667 which bumped it up to a total of 866 I believe and I had to take it's voltage up to 2.1...it is at CAS 5 but it benches better. The HT link is at x4 which sets it at 1040, I went ahead and put +.3 volts into that as well. My 7600GT's are now running at 635/765.

Here's my best so far. 6 hrs Prime stable. I'm sure this thing will hit 2.9 if I can figure out the Advance OC options on my M2N32-SLI Deluxe. I just don't understand some of the voltage options yet. I't running 32C idle and 48 load with Zalman 9500 @ 1.45V. Still waiting for the AS5 to burn in though. Couple of days...temps should be even lower. Whoohoo!!!!!!!

Wow thats insane man! Congrats on such a good overclock...thats something like 35 - 40% overclock, its ohmost 2 am so im not really interested in doing the math! lol but still thats an amazing overclock. What memory are you running and did you have to manually change the latencys to 4? |

I was able to get 2.73 on my 4000+ X2 last night. I can't get it to completely boot at any higher speeds. It will start post but restart during IDE detection. I'm stuck here nomatter what voltage I use. I got it to boot a couple of times at 2.75 and it was stable, but the boot was hit and miss. It's still running cool. I think I'm stuck here even if I lower my RAM and my HT. I want to be sad but how can I? That's almost a 37% increase. I can definitely see a difference....Windoze boots faster and games load faster, I haven't really been tracking framerates though. Anyway, if you get it much higher, you have to let me know your secrets. This baby's not even hot yet and is stable as hell according to P95. |

For right now the maximum stability for me is at 2.4. I can take it to 2.6 I just dont see the need to keep it there. 2.4 is solid, cool and error-free. Hell a 20% overclock isnt that bad on air cooling. I want to push my system further but I am just a little concerned.
