I currently have a Dell Dimension 8200 with a Intel Pentium 4 Processor 3.06GHz 533MHz Socket 478 512K Cache. I think the motherboard supports AGP 4x. As far as I know it doesn't have a PCI 16 EXPRESS x 16 SLOT. I would like to run the apple 30 inch screen from this computer. Does anyone know if this system can support the dual link DVI video card required for this monitor and if so can you recommend a card which I could use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check out an 5200 yes i know they suck for games but they might be the cheapest option for running such a MONSTER.

I think your options are limited. Some X850XTPE, some GF6800U, the R9650 and the R9600 Mac&PC edition (specifically that one) , and then the X1300, X1600 and maybe the GF7800GS.

Now which one is best depends on what you're using it for. Generally I'd say the X1600 is a good 'all around' bang/buck , but if you don't need games then the X1300 is more than fine, and if you want money no object then the GF7800GS is good (but usually so overpriced that if you can replace the mobo on that Dell I would say move to a PCIe version of the board and then a true GF7800GT/GF7900 or X1800/1900 series card for about the same amount of money. The other last gen cards will be very hard to find, and will likely be very expensive for the dual link versions.

None of those cards that you've recommended are Dual link, and IIRC no FX5200 exists that's dual-link.

He's not asking for dual dvi, but dual-link dvi as in dual link TMDS so that he can drive the 25x16 resolution of the Apple 30", those cards you recommended could only power the 23"'s 19x12 and only at 52Hz.

If you go to Dell's website and look up the Dell 3007" LCD monitor, they have a complete list of cards that will support it from ATI and Nvidia...

(Although an X800 variant might, I'm not sure about the AIW versions, as they might lack the "dual DVI" requirement due to the assortment of AIW inputs/outputs, etc..)

why would you want an apple monitor. one bug reason you wouldn't is them stands. they have got to be the worst ever. also quite a few say the dell ones are better quality although that is mostly personal preference. this has nothing to do with the OP question, just thought i'd mention it. dell's are also cheaper.
