More Information

I have been overclocking my computer over the past week, just to see what i can get out of it, to see if i really do need to upgrade.

I have: AMD Athlon 3000+ (333FSB 13x multi) 165 Stock FSB i think
Asus A7V880 (max 400 FBS)
1 stick of 512Mb Crucial RAM (yes i need more)
Saphire 9250 AGP, will be upgraded either way.
2x80Gb Seagate HDD's, one SATA that is brand new and i am using to boot off, and one PATA drive i use for downloads/backup.

But my problem comes when i overclock the CPU, i can get the FSB to 185 x 13 happily, and its all stable and cool, but the second that i touch 186Mhz the whole thing crashes. I press F10 in the BIOS, and it doesnt post, and i have to manually turn it off, then when i go to turn it back on i have to press the power button a couple of times, the BIOS says that there is an error, press F1 to change settings, or F2 to reload defaults. Eitherway the defaults are reset.

I reset them, let it post, and then it comes up on XP that C:windowssystem32configsystem is corrupt, enter the CD, and press "r" to repair, did that, replaced the system file along with sam, security, default, and software as describes on the MS website. Doesnt work, and i have to format the HDD.

Question is, any ideas why?

And yes im pretty new to overclocking.
