Hello everyone
I've found more that 20 little bugs in ME(yes, they're bugs for sure). Who
from MS corp. I have to inform about it to have hope for repairing it?

Thanks

Win Me is no longer supported by Microsoft with the only support being for
critical security problems which will continue to June 2006.

By the way, if you've only found 20 small problems you've got a long way
to go especially if they are all little since there are some pretty big
bugs that are well known to those who have been using Win Me since its
release.

That's advice to get rid of ME and go to XP, presumably.

No not at all. You are reading far more in to my answer than anything I
typed or implied.

You're a bit late, ME is almost 5 years old and no longer supported. Best to
concentrate your bug hunt on XP.

Mike, is there any site where all (or most) of these WinME bugs are listed?

Are these bugs mostly leftovers from Win98, or new with ME?

I'm using WinXP on three of my PCs, but still like WinME for some things,
especially the Win9x games that often won't run without a lot of tinkering
(or won't run at all) on any of the NT-based versions. So I have one
dual-boot machine, Win98SE and WinME. That suits me very well and has given
me little trouble on either OS.

I've noticed that some games are quirky under WinME, but others run fine
under ME and are quirky under Win98 (on the same hardware). The thing is, I
don't know whether any of these quirks are related to Windows bugs, and if I
knew more about the bugs it might help me.

For the most part, I still like WinME just fine, for the things I use it
for.

N.

I'm sorry but I'm not going to regurgitate some of the now historic
problems with Win Me. If they don't effect you then you don't have
anything to worry about and if you've hit them then I suspect you've long
since found an acceptable workaround. Like yourself I find Win Me to be
fine although it is best run on similar vintage hardware rather than with
current fast processors with lots of memory and large hard disks.

I'm sorry if that all appears to be patronising, that isn't my intention
at all, it's just that I feel there is nothing to be gained by going back
over history just as I feel there is nothing to be gained by the OP
contacting Microsoft. Remember that not only is Win Me out of normal
support but so also is the original RTM version of XP. Microsoft are
focussing on Longhorn/Vista and have been now for some years although it
is quite possible that there will be a final SP3 for XP before the release
of Vista. Note though that that is pure speculation and not based on any
inside knowledge.

Okay, Mike, thanks anyway. Just curious, and thought you might know of a
site with that information.

I'm not running it on "similar vintage hardware" but on an Athlon XP 1700+
machine, GeForce3, etc. So maybe that's the reason for its occasional
quirkiness, and as noted it hasn't been a significant problem anyway.

O.G.
