Today Microsoft released the following Security Bulletin(s) which have
implications for users of Win Me and also for those running MS Office
2000/XP/Works Suite 2000-2004 or Word 2000/2002.

I find - and I presume this is because you're, as it were, early - that
903235 is not offered at WU but is available via the catalog. The bulletin,
of course, says get it at WU.

I downloaded 903235 from the Windows Update site. I didn't wait to be
offered it via AU as I wanted to check that it was available and installed
OK before making my post.

I only needed to cover the vulnerability in JView Profiler and had zero
problems with the download and installation from
Windows Update.

I'm not talking about AU, though. I mean when going to WU and running the
scan it comes (came) up with 'there are no updates available', but was
retrievable via the Windows Update Catalog. Today I've received my
bulletins, so I suppose it is now offered following the scan.

Just switched on the WinME box went to WU and asked it to scan for updates
and it found the, Vulnerability in JView Profiler Could Allow Remote Code
Execution
(903235) installed it with no problems.
That machine of Kelly's is still running v4 of WU and the only thing I do
on there is maintenance on a Monday morning like clearing out the trash
and keeping Ad-aware and Spywareblaster up to date and running <g>
I'll have to go back and check but I think she is still running with
WorkSuite 2001 so not sure if there are any for that.

btw ME doesn't use v5 at all. Actually, I'd rather XP still used v4 as I

No problem Shane at least we're all up to date at the moment, mind you
reading the WU site a lot of people have been having problems since the
last load of updates so don't know if they'll get this lot.

Shane,

As I mentioned I was offered 903235 by the Windows Update site when I let
it scan my Win Me test box prior to posting my original message. I then
installed it, rebooted and acceded the net for a short while using IE
after which I made my post. I can only assume that some of the WU servers
hadn't been updated at the time you checked and you hit one that hadn't.

Sorry to hear that Mike, I knew you would be suffering, John is as well
although it is putting him on an unwanted diet, as he says it's too hot to
eat trouble is that means I don't eat as such I should be used to that
though.<g>
Had a chiropractor visit yesterday and he is very pleased doesn't want to

Thanks for the kind words Shane. Most of my problems stem from my apnoea
however I can't discount Hay Fever playing a part. I never used to
suffer from hay fever but without doubt have become far more sensitive to
pollen and dust than I ever was when younger and playing in the country.
I suspect this and my continual sniffles for the last six months are due
my having to sleep with a mask - that is when I actually manage to get to
sleep. :-)
