Opinions vary on SanDisk. a lot of people tell you to avoid them
and a few have had no problems with them.
Lexar is good, Kingston is also good.

I am using Dane-Elect 512MB XS card on an iPaq 4350, very fast and reliable.
This is the fastest SD card I have experienced. I have nearly all software
loaded onto the card, and they load just as fast as installed in the main
memory (with some few exceptions). Got it from here:

I had a Dane Elec card with routing software on it- it was the slowest card
I'd ever tried taking 3 times as long as some other cards to produce routes.
I eventually settled on using a Lexar for that application.
Most applications use smaller sized data files so the effect of slow access
isn't so marked as waiting over 30 seconds (as opposed to under 10 seconds).
(and I tried reformatting it, and different FAT formats)

Look for memory card speed tests on the web, I've seen some on digital
camera sites. They use fairly large files where speed is fairly important.

Ha ha, I wish! As a Nikon D2h user(and other pocket digicams) and an iPaq2210
owner, I've used various card brands over the years, some brilliant, some not.
My old Nikon D1h in particular was a very fussy eater, and spat out cheaper
cards (a PQI brand card in particular).
I've found a Dane-Elec card to be the slowest, but a cheap Viking brand SD card
is as good as a slightly more expensive Lexar card.

speeds but reads like a rocket. Great for my GPS Satnav.

Was it a XS card, which suppose to have a read speed of 44X (6.6MB/sec),
relatively fast. I note a speed test here:
http://www.d-store.com/d-store/product/cfspeed2.htm. All cards tested have a
read speed between 14X and 28X

I offloaded the card and can't remember what go faster stripes it carried,
but they didn't help.
