Dear MSI,

Who the hell designed this motherboard? And did anybody ever test it?

One of the SATA ports is covered up when you install an AGP card, thus
rendering it useless. This completely ruins everything I wanted to do
with it.

Also, because of certain components on the motherboard, the back audio
panel does not fit.
I suspect the firewire port will have the same problem but as I
didn't even get one in the box, I don't know for sure.

And finally, for now, The Win DVD disc claims to have a translation
program on it but it doesn't.

Very shoddy in my opinion. I should have got a Gigabyte.

Are you using proper 80wire IDE cables for both IDE channels ? If you use
the older type (40wire) cable, it will not allow it to work at full speed.
The cable supplied with the board is ok, so if it still does not work, try
downloading the latest nFORCE drivers from Nvidia - they have now included a
better IDE driver - http://www.nvidia.co.uk/content/drivers/drivers_uk.asp

On my board the SATA ports are nowhere near the AGP slot - have they changed
the design? - I even looked at the latest manual (v1.3) from MSI and it
shows a board version M-6570 v1.x with SATA ports behind PCI slots 3 and 5 -

Yes, The 3 audio sockets don't match the back panel supplied with the PC
case - but MSI included a matching one with the board, so yours must have
been missing from the box.
There should also be another bracket supplied for the SPDIF and rear audio
channels.

I got the firewire port supplied as standard with my ILSR board - was your
box sealed when you bought it?

Yes, I agree - it implies there is another program on the disc which is
missing - but I don't rate most of the software supplied free with boards
anyway.

The K7NT Delta ILSR is not all that bad - Worst thing was the Nvidia nForce2
chipset, which caused problems for many people - mostly now resolved with
the long-awaited driver updates.

Yes, the ones with blue, grey & black ends. I'll get the nVidia update
though, cheers.

Yes my mistake. I think my vision was clouded with my initial rage at
the other things when I installed the graphics card. d'oh!

There wasn't a different panel with it. Perhaps it's the case design
as when I try to put the audio panel in it hits pins and capacitors
and whatnot.

Yes got that but when the first bit didn't work I didn't bother
fitting it., Maybe it's time to get the grinder out.

It was sealed but not in plastic, just a sticker over the edge of the
box. I hope the shop has another one in stock cos I'm going to want
these bits from that box.

Hopefully things'll be better once I've upped the bios and drivers,

A drive not running in DMA mode will be no more noisy than a drive running in DMA mode, excessive noise is an indication of
impending drive failure.

I just got this model yesterday and spent last night installing it.

With HD Tach my Hard Drive gets a sustained transfer rate of 30
meg/second with the standard transfer rate of 30 meg per second with
the standard CD drivers, I havn`t had chance to update all the drivers
yet.

The point I think is that it is really quite difficult to place the
bracket in the case without interfering components

In my very short experience the only problem i`ve had is and
incompatibility with the board and the Radeon 7200 drivers which
caused XP to crash
