I have an A8V Deluxe's MoBo with the Marvell Yukon Gigabit adapter. This
works with my Dell TrueMobile 2300 router that has 10/100 ports, however it
does not work with my Linksys WRTP54G wireless router plugged into the
10/100 port, nor my Netgear router, nor another router I have purchase
recently that has 10/100 ports. Normally I would just keep the Dell router,
but it is failing and I need a replacement.

I ran the ALASKA virtual cable tester that comes with the driver and it
says:

Cable Length Status
1-2 0m Open
3-6 5m Normal
4-5 0m Short
7-8 0m Short

Figures, the only thing that the messed up NIC works with is a messed up
Dell router that keeps loosing its settings.

I think with the Virtual Cable Tester, someone pointed out that
the device at the other end of the cable has to be powered down
but still connected, to get a good reading.

When I had problems, I found one pair was open, when trying to
connect at Gigabit speeds. Unplugging and replugging a number of
times fixed the problem, implying there was some residue on the
pins of the motherboard connector.

For GbE, all four pairs are used. For 10/100BT, only 1-2 and 3-6
pairs are used. A minimal cable for ethernet, only has to connect
via the 1-2 and 3-6 pins on each end, so the status of 4-5 and 7-8
doesn't matter, in order to get 10/100BT to work.

Perhaps your status will change when the device at the other
end is connected via its Ethernet port, but there is no power
on the device.

A8V --X With no cable attached,
should read "zero meters, Open"

A8V --X <-----> With a cable attached,
should read "five meters, Open"

A8V --X <-----> X-- router With a complete connection to router,
should read "five meters, Normal"

FWIW - works fine with my 3com wireless ADSL router. It's also the
object of a Windows driver upgrade - may make matters better or worse ;-)

Works just fine with my LinkSys Model BEFSR41 wired router.

My A8V-E Deluxe w/ Marvell lan would not work with either my US
Robotics 8022 or my Linksys WRT54G router with the driver from the CD.
I downloaded a driver from Marvell's site and it works just fine. (The
wLan driver on the CD was a bust and USB 2.0 only works @ 1.1 -- what a
lot of grief!!!)
