I have a 1 year old Japanese computer called a Fujitsu FMV Deskpower. I
recently upgraded from the built-in video card, just to find that the monitor
plug doesn't fit. It seems that Fujitsu created these wacky "Digital plus"
monitor plugs that don't fit anything except Fujitsu PCs (and they don't make
video cards). So I bought a cheap monitor that hurts my eyes just to fit my
new video card, while my nice new big flatscreen Fujitsu monitor sits
disconnected.

I checked 'special' plug shops online, but no one seems to carryan adapter.
What can I do? Is it possible to splice my own cords somehow?

Any advice greatly appreciated by me and my eyes ;-)

To further explain, the old analog connection for monitors
is VGA which sends a different type of signal to the CRT.
The new digital flat panels use a DVI connector (it is a
standard type of connector, but different companies call it
special names as part of the marketing program). Many flat
panel monitors ONLY use DVI, some can use both VGA and DVI.
DVI will give a better picture.

Hi guys-
As I mentioned, its not a DVI plug, its a "Digital plus" plug. My G-Force
card supports VGA, DVI, and TV-out. The Fujitsu plug won't fit.

Gee, maybe you should call Fujitsu and ask about a gender
converter.
A little search on Google indicates there are two several
DVI standards, including DVI-D and DVI-S, one of those is
probably what you need. You might call a company such as
Cyberguys or NewEgg and talk to them on the phone.

Nice. That picture helps a ton. That is called a DFP (Digital Flat
Panel) Connector. Here is a nice little link for you (Google search of
DFP Connector brought this up for me):

Here is what you are looking for in a convertor:

You will probably find these cheaper on eBay or other sites, but this
picture is excellent

I had a translator contact Fujitsu Japan, and they were less than helpful.
I did findout however that it's called a "30 pin type" (if the translator is
correct). I don't know about cables, but I counted the pin slots and there
are 28 in the center, 2 on the sides. The link below has only 20 pins in the
center, so I'll try a search for a "30 pin type" DFP?

You might try a search on Belkin, they make a lot of
different gender changers and adapters. You might also
contact ATI or NVIDIA (who ever made your new video card)
and ask their help.

Hi Jim-
Just tried Belkin - no banana. Anyway, I searched all over and can't find
anything. I am really upset about it. The original dealer has washed his
hands of it, despite assuring me when I was going to buy the PC that I could
"upgrade to play any new game". And Fujitsu kept us on the phone for 1 hour
just for the tech to say they don't know and we should contact a computer
shop or something. I would make the dealer or Fujitsu sort this out one way
or another, but I am relying on a reluctant and somewhat uncooperative
translator here in Japan, making me all the more frustrated. {rant off}

Holy cow. I didn't quite see that properly. I have never in my life
seen that type of connector. I thought for sure that I had seen them
all (j/k)

That is a very odd situation then. I have been searching for answers
for about a half an hour now, but I finally gave up. Your best bet is
going to be either get a convertor directly from the company, buy a new
monitor, or splice the cable and learn how to connect all the wires to
make a normal VGA or DVI output
