I doubt you'll find any retailers still carrying a Socket 7 board.

Best bet would be an auction site, like eBay.

Being a relative newbie to ng's, I don't know where you are located. Nor
do I know the difference between a "Socket 7" and a "Super Socket 7" m/b.

However - IF you are in the UK - I googled for an Abit NF7-S2 (socket 7,
takes Athlon XP 1800+ and similar ) - difficult to find but SCAN computers
still have them at reasonable price http://www.scan.co.uk/ - both Dabs and
Savastore (Watford Electronics) have run out of stock.

There are other Socket 7 boards, too.

Hi Len -

You're thinking maybe Socket A boards, which began life supporting what was
then known as the AMD K7 processor line? While quickly adjourning to
Dinosaur status, they're still holding on for last gasps, supporting the 166
and 200 MHz AMD Athlon XP and Sempron processor lines (and backward
compatible to the original 100MHz and 133MHz AMD K7 processors).

Socket 7 and Super Socket 7 were for AMD K6 processors.

Super Socket 7 added support for the AGP bus and a 100MHz FSB.

My two sentence history lesson neglected to mention that Super Socket 7
boards cut their teeth on and supported many more processors than the AMD K6
line:

AMD K6 166-300MHz
AMD K6-2 300-550MHz
AMD K6-III 400-450MHz

VIA Cyrix MII 266GP-400GP

I'm probably missing some .. in an effort to be much more comprehensive in

As mentioned earlier, I'm in UK.
Socket 7 Motherboards for under $20 in USA?!! Bargain!!
Just ordered the Abit NF7-S2 from UK on-line supplier www.scan.co.uk - the
last supplier with any stock at "sensible" price (there are others, but 50%
dearer) - cost GBP 44 incl shipping and tax, that's about USD 77 .... (it
is new stock). Didn't find any in UK on e-Bay.

If Abit is your choice, did pick up one user comment in user review -
"essential to d/l updated BIOS - Abit excellent boards but they are poor at
supplying current BIOS".

That's true of MANY mobo mfr's, and I consider Abit to be one of the
better ones with regards to keeping up with BIOS updates, unlike ASUS,
Giga-byte, Biostar, ECS, etc. All these mfr's are interested in doing
is selling you their new toys, they could care less about their old
ones even if they were released just a few months ago.
