I got a 40-G-byte hard drive on my new laptop under Window XP home
edition.
Before I patition with Partion Magic. It work fine over two weeks with all
my old DOS programs. Then I start use Partion Magic 8.0 into several
drives ( I work with FPGA, There are 4 brands of FPGA - Xilinx, Altera etc.-
so I put each brand FPGA software and hardware, PDF files in a sepaprate
drive. When you mixup of different FPGA in one drive. It is a nightmare).
more than half of old DOS program don't work anymoe. Is there
possible any patch up to solve
this problem. It is important for me to work under DOS, because DOSI boot
fast in few seconds. Work with FPGA and CPLD hardware debug. so many
times lock out, ( BTW FPGA mfg even give you DOS utl to work with FPGA).
To wait start window XP again is another night mare, especially when you to
have wait for scan disk. Worst I have to get rid of Window XP, I had several
PC system are in Window -98. It works great with DOS. Are my problem
come with Window XP or Partion 8.0

FPGA is Field-Programable-Gate-Array logic circuit. Xilinx is Number one in
USA ( No 1 in the world, nobody else in this world. It is like Intel Corp.
Altera like AMD ) make of this FPGA, Altera is 2nd. Xilinx sale over 3 to 4
billion dollar of FPGA. Altera about one billion.

One example of FPGA, I saw, is a dual CRT PCI PC display Videdo board, made
by Matrax
In that board, There is a big Xilinx made FPGA chip for that purpose to
display 2 different
pictures on 2 separate CRT in one PC under MS Window. I guess Matrax
didn't sale too many these boards. that where buck stop there. If Matrax
sale over 10,000 of this dual CRT boards, Matrax will made in ASIC chip
for this board. which is lot cheaper than FPGA.

This FPGA can be designed do lot of different things. One famaus case,
is even Gray computer give lot respect of this FPGA. Jan Gray runing a WEB
site call
WWW.FPGA.CPU.com or .org It is not very active now, but still there, You can
log on that
Web site, take look. ( Gray used make supper computer. FPGA some how tune
to that kind market ).

I hope this is part of the translation,

Your response wasn't worth your time.

I think you need to find a Bootmanager so that you can select
from a menu on boot-up which partition you should boot into.

Personally I use "Boot Magic", which used to come with
Partition Magic, but I think it does not anymore. I got mine
with version 4, but I have seen later ones too.

Pure Dos as well as W98, and those other Dos based versions of
Windows, must be on a primary partition to run normally. Since
Dos will only accept *one* primary partition visible at a time
the boot manager does its thing by hiding and unhiding the
different partitions.

It takes some planning to set it up but once that is done you
should not have any problems running Dos programs on partitions
that are totally independent and unaware of each other.

I have a multiboot setup, running W98, ME, W2k, XP and Pure Dos
on the same machine.

Good luck!
