Thread : BFG Bad for volt mod? Not all...

I believe scotten is half right about BFG cards, the versions with the dual fans are the ones that suck, the very original(like when it first came out last summer) that has the single fan design is the good one, i bought one at that time and am currently running 410/1100 on a stock cooler with my own 1.4v modded BIOS. It auto detects at 419/1100, but heats up to much, so i'm waiting for a better cooler. Also i've read several user reviews(such as newegg etc..) on the most recent BFG OC GT's and many have reported 420's and even up to 445 with water cooling. So BFG is not necessarily a bad brand for OC, only if you get the inbetween version with the sucky cooler. PNY is another story, have no experience with them what so ever, and they are not the most expensive or quality filled brand, so i wouldn't doubt their oc limitations. I would still reccommend BFG over Asus(if you get the newest cards, check with the vender before buying), for some reason i have Never had good luck oving their cards, love their mobo's and features and stuff, just never had good oc results on their cards. Not only that BFG gives you a life time warranty, so if you damage something and are able to flash back, you get a new card.

BFG over Asus if you're talking about 6800GT then HELL NO! The Asus 6800GT uses 6800ultra PCB, and it's default at 1.45V it's superior all around.

Yeah I was quite pissed when i first bought a BFG 6800GT at how the fact the cooling blows compare to Nvidia refrence. So returned it and bought a Gainward 6800GT, and that thing totally kicked @ss, 400/1100 was too easy, since gainward's enhanced mode hits that, so i've decided to go more, the ram crapped out at 1150, but the core went all the way up to 440mhz. That is without any volt modding or cooling modifications, since the card defaults at 1.4V |

Nice OC you have there. As per you. Time for better Kooling and a little volt modding? |

lol, the only reason it needs the vmod is because it doesn't run at 1.4v stock. lol. Obviously if the Asus GT was at 1.3v like most other boards it wouldn't OC as well either.
