I will never do or reccommend to anyone to do business with Zonelabs
again. I am taking this message to any and every board I can find.

The last few times I upgraded ZAP it has taken me a lot of time to get
my system working correctly again. Version 5 was the last straw. Even
going back to previous versions did not work correctly. However, I am
a paying customer and feel I should be able to use the latest and
greatest or at least get a discount on the last years model.

I just called and asked to have the balance of my two year
subscription refunded. We are talking about approx. $15. Devin in
customer service said they won't refund my money even though their
software is crashing systems, buggy and no longer works well for my
purposes (file sharing). The $15 won't kill me but there is a bigger
principle here. A company should stand behind their product or get out
of business!

I have switched to Kerio and so far it is working well and best of
all, I installed and set it up in minutes.

I am trying to compile a list of the potential risks in an IT environment. I
have produced a list of 100 development and operational risks and wonder if
others are interested in this list, or better still, adding to the list.

The intention is to develop a comprehensive list to assist IT project
managers and operational support personnel.

As well reported ... Zone Alarm ahs be purchased by CheckPoint. It is
logical to assume that CheckPoint will install "upgrades" to the ZA product
to allow it ot integrate with its current line of products, allowing
Checkpoint to provide an AV/ID/FW solution from desk top to enterprise level
servers.

As to your complaint, I agree it is valid, but its no different than the
"new" Coke flavor change of a few years back or the fact that 1998 Chevy are
no longer being sold. Time and products move on...some for the better,
others get worse. Software is one of a class of products that don't even
give lip service to the idea of compatiblity with all related products or
warrenty of suitablity...its all buyer be ware.

And then they complain about "pirated" software, music, movies. Customers
have a way of holding a grudge and getting even!
