The user guide has very little information on how to import/convert and
then get the ringtone to the phone.
I've tried the MP3 Ringer maker, but after "creat"ing with it, where do
they go?
I'm sure it is very simple, just need a little help.

Also, is there an update or alternative MP3 player for this phone?
I like to listen to audio I'm captured overnight from the radio and the
tracks are 25 minutes long or longer and the version on my phone I can
not fast forward or start in the middle of a selected track, a big pain
if you happen to get interupted.

The created ring tone is placed into the same location as the source
MP3 file. You need to install it on to the 7135. After installing it,
reset the phone with the button inside the battery compartment. When
it reboots, you'll be able to select the new sound file as a ringer.

The source file requirements are kind of stringent. Use the smallest
bit rate you can stand, and clip it to a small a sample as possible. In
other words, using an entire song at 256 kbits is not a good idea.

What I need to know is what is the process for installing the ringtone
on the phone so that it appears and can be selected.
I could not find anything covering this in the phone's documentation,
really rather sparse. I just need to know where to put the converted
ringtone and what the procedure is used to put that file there.

You install it like you install anything else onto your Palm. If you
don't know how to do that, then you need to read the user's
guide/manual.

The problem is that there is very little documentation on the phone and
no online instructions that I can find at the Kyocera site.

Well, I've now given you instructions twice. If you still cannot
install a ring tone now, I can only his own that you are having
comprehension problems.

What format (type, bits, bit rate, sample rate) actually works?

I've had good luck with 96 kb/s CBR. Larger than that in the file size
gets too big, smaller than that and the sound quality really starts to
suffer. The rest, just my standard ripping settings for CD-quality
rips.

You must speak in riddles or assume many things.
I posted on a pda board and received a "CLEAR AND CONCISE" reply and
had the ringers installed in less than 2 minutes.
I just got the phone and only the included software is installed at
this point.

I really thing that you could've told me to double click the converted
mp3 and sync, reset.

Would've been less typing for you, easier for an idiot like me to
understand, but
thanks for your input.

Thanks to Cool Edit and the internet, I now have a bit of
the Twilight Zone theme as my ringer.

And my 7135 has not crashed or locked up since I got rid of AvantGO.

Like I said, "install the file and reset the phone". I also told you
that if you don't know how to "install the file" to read the manual
that came with the thing. Installing files and programs to a PalmOS
device is a basic operation that you must know how to do if you want to
get any decent use out of it.
