Hey all,

I'm looking for a budget (no more than $15-20 including shipping) CPU cooler for a cheap Duron, maybe XP later, system I'm building to tinker around with. Any suggestions. I most likely would like to get it from newegg.com too, thanks.

PS - Is glaciertech products any good, newegg looks like they have some good prices.

Hmm, perhaps the Coolermaster Xdream, or a Thermalright Sk6+

Instead of Rdram, why not just merge 4 Sdram channels...

I use a $4 heatsink and $5 fan on Tbred B XP1700+ @2.1 ghz. Temps never exceed 43 degrees. Got both at www.nexfan.com. Before the XP1700+ they were used on a Tbird 1.0 @ 1.5 ghz, 43-50 degrees. The heatsink is a little large at 80 mm long x 60 mm wide so check your motherboard for fit. It's basically the same heatsink as the Thermaltake Volcano 5 but with 3-tab clip and an OEM fan. Old school all-aluminum but even with the stock fan it is plenty for a Duron. The TMD fan is more powerful and only a little louder which is good for me. (As you can guess, a 70 mm TMD fan doesn't fit very well. It's turned on the diagonal. Also it's best to power one of these directly from the power supply via a 3 to 4 pin adapter).

Whynot just get a stock cooler from a Xp series cpu? they are cheap and cheerful.

Or another cooler thats getting rave reviews is the spire falconrock II. cheap, easy to fit, quiet and very good.
