How can you do it? I want it to go around the 900mhz mark so that certain games, in particular HALO wont slow down in multi. Would I have to use jumpers, or could i install xbox linux and use software to do it? thanks.

It will NEVER EVER happen. that simple.
Unless you want to go mental with the solder and learn how to replace the chip or something like that.

Now thats what I want to know!

Well, as far as I know, the thing used a PIII 733. Of course you could replace it with a 933 or 1000EB, BUT...
I'm fairly certain it's a MOBILE CPU with the soldered Ball Grid Array, not a Desktop CPU with the Pin Grid Array, so unless your a genius with solder, you're probably stuck.

I thought it was a Celeron 733.

Fat chance, the Xbox needed a faster bus speed than that.

Its not a celeron 733 nor is it a true pentium 733. It was a special version made especially for the xbox and its fits somewhere in between a celeron and a pentium. Halo is comming out for pc anyway.

Doesn't really matter what CPU it has, not to me anyway.

I've been boycotting Xbox just because Microsoft chose to release Halo exclusively for Xbox after the world had been waiting nearly 3 years for the game. I'm glad they changed their minds. Has a release date been announced for the PC version of Halo?

LoL, poor you, are you going to boycott the PS2, PC (this is rare but it has and does happen with some companies) and Gamecube for stealing games from other platforms as well?

I think you'll be left with Gameboy advance....enjoy.

It was a joke!

However, I don't own any game consoles because I'm a light duty gamer. The high cost for the games is another reason I don't own one and why should I buy a console when have a perfectly good PC for gaming. (OK not so perfect but good enough PC).

I do own the only legal PSX emulator (as far as I know), Connectix' Virtual Game Station (no longer published), but PSX games are so archaic now.

Bandwidth, of course. Makes sense to me. Don't know why I thought I remebered it as a Celeron. Sorry.

i dont get why you would want to mess with the speed of the thing. they do intensive testing, and the games are DESIGNED to run on that CERTAIN setup. the reason overclocking can help a PC is because PC games arent necessarily made for one certain setup, otherwise they wouldnt be able to sell to many people.
the main reason Halo is slowing down in Multi is because of .Net lag.....that is what i can think of. some games on PC seem to run slow in multi, but in reality, its lag causing the game to slow down.

The CPU in the Xbox has some great FSB so you'd have to get one that could perform on that level. I think it was 133MHz but could transfer like 3GB/s? I'm prb wrong, but who cares, my Xbox performs fine.

Their is a company that mods the xbox to 1ghz and changes the hard so that it is bigger. I also think that they make it so you can watch dvds without the control and you can play hacked games. Can not remember off hand who it is but I am sure that a google search will find them easy.
