No power saving on USB ports.
USB ports report ready.
USB printer reports ready, but steadfastly refuses to print even a test page.
I plugged a parallel port printer into the computer. XP immediately recognised it and I was able to print a test page.
I opened the word processor, recalled the document that had failed to print, and clicked the print button before remembering to change the selected printer.
The USB printer roared into life and printed the document where it had refused to print before.
