I am thinking of upgrading to this phone and I have a few questions.
Is there software out there to put pictures and ringtones on the phone?
Does it have the "Verizon Wireless" on the display and is it possible to
take it off.
Can you put any picture you want on the front display?
Are you happy with yours? I know they have the Bluetooth screwed up but I
just want the cordless headset feature right now. I also like the flash card
feature.
Thanks,

I am very happy with mine. I use any picture I want has wallpaper, by
using my transflash card. But I heard that VZW updated the firmware and
you can't do that now. But I would check on Howard Forums in the Verizon
temp 710 forum. Those guys know it all, when it comes to v710.

I've hooked up the v710 to my computer with MPT. There appears to be no
access to photos or tones. My phone has the ability (reportedly, not
tested) to upload photos and tones through the transflash card. OTOH,
recent the software upgrade reportedly removes that ability. Note that
the phone has very limited memory without the transflash card, which now
appears to be superfluous.

The BT is disabled except for pairing with the Moto headsets and car
kits; it is not "screwed up". The headset works very well for that
singular purpose. Voice dialing works well except that it is
excessively verbal which is a small downside.

It is labeled Verizon. There is a seem edit that will remove the
branding, leaving the date in place or blank, depending on the edit
used. The front display wallpaper cannot be user modified in any way
except for color changes. The phone is capable of using photo caller
ID, but so far as I can tell, no one has been able make it work.

So, what the v710 has is a pretty decent camera, a good screen, a good
BT wireless headset capability. It is just about a v265 with the added
mass of the BT radio, a better camera, and a better screen. The v710
battery life is compromised by the BT radio power requirements. If you
don't need the BT headset, there is simply no reason to own the phone,
IMO.

The downside is that the phone has (apparently, who knows for sure?)
extensive BT and synchronization capabilities that have been disabled
for VZ's support for its "user pays for all access" business model.

It's easy to assign pictures that I have copied to the phone from the
Transflash card. Just edit any given entry and assign any of your pictures
to that entry.

That's good information about the transflash card. OTOH, if you
"update" the software at a Verizon store, that ability is lost, if
reports are accurate.

What is the version that still works with the card? What is the most recent
versions that doesn't?
I have read that the new version still works with the card for pictures and
video's and you can put mp3's on the phone to play but you can't use them as
ringtones. Like I said, I read that. I don't know for sure. Maybe someone
will help us out on this. Thanks for the reply.

IF I recall (it's my wife's phone, and she's out of town) the old
software ends in "14". Anyway, the capabilities with the new software
are all "reports". I'm not going to volunteer the v710 for the update
until I know, and I've not yet seen anything quantitative on the forums
I read.

I believe 1.3.x is the last one that allows the transfer from the TF
to the phone memory and 1.4.0 is the new one that disables it. You
can always send the photo and/or ringtone to yourself and save it to
the phone so you don't have to use the "Get it Now"

Have you actually sent tones and pics to the phone? Do the tones just
play or can they be assigned as a ringtone? Thx.

I haven't tried anything yet. I don't have the phone yet. It is being
shipped to me.
I have done a lot of research on it and I read that the new firmware will
let you move on the trans flash card pictures and videos to the phone and
set pictures as wallpapers and it will let you move mp3's to the phone but
only to play, not as ringtones. I'll let you know when I get my phone.
Like I said, I'm not positive on this. Wish someone with one would let us
know.

What did you pay for it. Did you buy it direct from verizon?

I got mine on ebay. Brand new, with data cable, car charger and a 128meg.
card for $325.00

I have not. No plans to flash mine - it works fine now. :) I have read
several posts in v710.org of users who claim they have. If you don't change
tones or wallpaper often they say its an adequate solution
