Dell kicks ass again!!

Indeed, we at Dell are very happy to have this notebook in the performance (XPS) line-up of PCs. It's basicly identical to the Ins XPS Gen2 except that it has an updated BIOS which supports the 7800go (the big selling point of the machine) and the covers reflect the name change (M170)

Sorry, I've been away on business, else I would have posted about this system over a month ago when I first knew about it.

Hey, since you have direct impact on what is going on at Dell, I would like to make a direct complaint/request for hardware change: PLEASE if you'd like to sell (I mean SELL without return) more of those all mighty machines first change that stupid bezel on that otherwize cool keyboard, it is an unbearable task to actually work on that 9300 powerhouse (XPS, 6000, etc. have the same thing which is sad).

You are the tester and you can't figure out that after typing for a minute your thumb begins to swell from hitting "Space Bar" AND the edge of the bezel? Do I have to apply for your position to make that happen? I would LOVE to have that Dell on my laps, BUT IBM is THE laptop for now because of that ALONE.

PS: I will make a little more complaints when this "issue" is resolved, until then it is a waste of time for me, caz I will never buy a Dell again until I can work on it without damaging my money making parts of the body (I am getting a brain damage too, because I get so frustrated about my inability to use laptop I wasted almost two grand on

Hmm... Interesting complaint. I myself have a 9300 and have never had an issue with hitting the bezel.

How large is your hand, are you left or right handed (do you hit the keyboard with one thumb or the other, possibly both on regular occasion), is it just one spot you hit your thumb on or other areas, is there not enough room between the spacebar and the bezel or does the keyboard need to be raise?

If it's as simple as raising the board, I can recommend to purchase some small neoprene pads or just a sheet and cut some small dots to put under the foot spots on the keyboard. I had to do that once with an older gateway and afterwards it was the perfect height for my hands.

As for getting it changed, well the 9300 and XPS Gen2 is being phased out for other models that area already on the engineering floor (sorry, not telling what, but the chassis will be different on one I can say). Let me know if the neoprene helps and I'll see if engineer can get those keyboards raised a cm or so.
