Okay, what I really want is a cheap Bluetooth phone. I don't need any
of the other features. My contract is up in a couple of weeks and I
am stuck with VZW since I have a wide network of friends and family on
it. The way I see it my options are:

1. Buy a Motorola V710 and BT headset
2. Wait and see if VZW is going to offer the Nokia 6255i
3. Keep my two-year old Motorola 720 and buy the BT200 wireless
headset.

I don't want to say that money is no object, and I would be willing to
pay more for a phone that drops fewer calls than my 720, for example.
But it looks like the 6255i could cost even more than the V710! What
to do, what to do...

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Jane

Sure.. I have the Jabra BT-200 *FOR NON BLUE TOOTH PHONES* (same model
number, but make sure it is for non-bluetooth phones). Has a little dongle
that plugs into the headset jack on many phones, and also works on other
devices that have a 2.5 MM jack (cordless phones, Computers with some sound
cards for VOIP etc). Have 3 different cell phones and it works on all of
them, and don't need a BT only phone..

Never understood why people bother with the bluetooth specific phones when
they absolutely positively don't need it for wireless Bluetooth
compatibility...

Check out http://www.jabra.com/products/mobile.htm

Two products...

FreeSpeakT BT200
for Bluetooth Phones

FreeSpeakT BT200
for Non-Bluetooth Phones

Notice... same model (BT200), but one is for bluetooth phones and one not!
(about $129 ((or less on sale)).... and can be purchased at many places,
including Radio Shack)

go with the v710 (great reception...better than the t720) and the HS-810
headset (boom for on and off is great)...

I too had the t720 for two years and upgraded to the v710 a month
ago....best phone yet..

I had a Jabra 200 a while back and returned it since it kept getting 'out of
sync' with the bluetooth dongle that plugs into the headset jack of the
phone. It also was a pain having to charge both the headset and dongle
(though they did charge together), plus the phone itself.

Now I have a V710 and HS810 bluetooth headset, and couldn't be happier! I
like how I can just flip the mic boom closed and it immediately shuts off
(or turns on when you open it again). Very good battery life also (from the
hs810. The V710 is sort of a battery hog but is much better with the
extended battery I hear). Some people seem to like the hs820 headset better
because it is .1 ounce lighter and a smidgeon smaller but you have to hold
the main button down to turn it on or off and it's not quite as good at
rejecting wind noise, etc as the 810 is.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'm leaning toward the V710 if it is
going to drop fewer calls than the T720. I live in Maryland and
commute to Virginia through Washington DC and I have a drop zone
exactly halfway between the two. It makes client calls impossible.

Thanks again for the info.

Jane

I have the 820; it cost less than the 810, and from what I had been
told, you can't fold the boom on the 810 while you are wearing it. I
was also told that the 810 does not support voice dialing, but someone
else told me that it does--but that was after I bought the 820.

Because some of the bluetooth adaptors do not work with bluetooth
equipped cars.
