Forum Motherboard & Memory : Motherboards drivers and software compatibility

Word :    Username :

hello,

I'm thinking of building my own computer, and the AMD platform looks really good, and affordable, but I see a lot of talk about having to tweak things to get the Motherboards to work with various hardware and software. It sounds buggy. My question is, what do people think ? Are they going to improve on drives and compatibilities in the near future, or are they so concentrated on having the biggest fastest thing that they won't spend as much time stablising the platform ? Has any heard of more stable things to come ? It sounds like I might want to wait a while, I'm a beginnner, & would have a hard time with a buggy system. I already do.

AMD processors are fine, the problem is the VIA chipsets that pretty much all of the AMD motherboards use. I'm going to wait until Micron comes out with their chipset for the AMD socket A. My guess is they will make one that works and doesn't have all of these weird incompatibility problems. I'm not quite sure when Micron is supposed to be releasing this, however. Does anyone else know?

Via drivers are being improved upon slowly but they are getting better some of the problems is they dont always install right and need to be done manualy. Also, microsoft caters to intel and does not seem to give a flying @#$$% about via.

Thanks. That's good news. Who knows, Microsoft is probably jealous of the attention that Intel is giving Linux. Maybe some compatibility will come out of this soap opera. Sorry, I am disenchanted right now. I have a lame e-machine. The tech told me they don't know what the parts are inside, I would have to call Korea, and that every batch was different. Sheesh. Whatever happened to be on hand, probably. It is almost funny.
