Im looking into buying a notebook... and one of the things concerning me is the power input of these devices. I travel around the world alot, I go to countries where 220v and 110v is standard output. My question is, do notebooks only require an adaptor to work everywhere? or do i need to carry a converter from 110 to 220 (or the opposite)?
thanks.

Modern day laptop adaptors are automatic switching. They support 110/240V. Well most cellphone and camera adaptors do as well anyway.

But just make sure that you have the correct plugs. Don't be like me. I normally use the 3 prong UK style plugs and I went to Holland for 2 weeks. Couldn't charge my cellphone or notebook. Fortunately a friend had a plug that fitted into my camera charger and I could charge that. Otherwise my vacation would've been ruined. I've since bought an international plug converter set.

so you're saying i wont need a converter, right? just an adaptor to ad-on so the pins fit in the plug. Do you have a link with some pics and info of the international converter set you bought?
thanks for the help

Yep you don't need any electrical converters, just adaptors so that you can fit the plug into the sockets. Though to release me from liabilities I suggest you take a look at the notebook's power adaptor. It should normally say AC input 100 to 240 volts.

It might help to look at these sites:

I bought mine for about GBP 6 (not the ones in the site but a far simpler one. can't find a photo of it) but a friend told me that I got ripped off. It normally costs about GBP 3 for a cheap but functional one.
