$373 dollars nets you a 36x optical zoom lens, attached to a beefy “bridge” (near-to-DSLR size) camera body. The lens goes from 22.5 to 810mm, and Nikon says it can zero in cleanly on an object as close as .4 inches from the glass. ISO speeds up to 3200 and a motion detector that readjusts the cameras settings to account for fast moving objects mean Dad is unlikely to miss the shot of whatever it is he’s stalking. The camera can shoot 5 frames in one second at full quality, and if you’re willing to sacrifice some quality, Nikon rates this camera at 120 frames per second. It records 1080p video at 30 frames per second. The 3-inch LCD tilts and moves to allow more flexibility while shooting (though, there’s also an electronic viewfinder built in). Don’t lose the lens cap, Dad!

So, if this is a review of cameras for a shutterbug photographer, why is your only mentioned Digital SLR the Canon T3... why not mention the Nikon D3100 or the Sony A390L (as they are within the same pricing)?

Hi PhotoBug82,
Lots of reasons. They're not as new, they're slightly more expensive. Also, as this article is sponsored by Newegg.com, its a guide to shopping at Newegg. Neither of the other two cameras you mentioned is currently in stock at Newegg. Thank you for asking--you'll always get an honest answer from us.
