YoYo Games’ Game Maker is a paid application where users of Windows-based computers can start their career in game design.

Users are treated to a simple-to-use interface with plenty of tools for creating great graphics, sound, and control. Budding independent game developers can create or import scripts to adjust the aspects of the game they are creating, and more content such as audio clips, sprites, and extensions are available for download.

Game Maker comes as a trial version. The paid edition costs $25.
