2. Indoor Tests

Sony And Casio

At the top of the columns in the pages dealing with indoor and outdoor tests, you will see thumbnail reproductions of the original pictures and, below, full-size details of them. We preferred not to resize the details to give a better idea of what results to expect when choosing a size of sensor.

In this micro-camera contest, Sony is an easy winner over Casio indoors. The Exilim EX-M2 suffers from its lack of autofocus and the result is that objects at a distance of even a yard away, as in our tests, look blurred. This is all the more a shame because the colors are fairly true. There is also quite a lot of vignetting. The photo is much clearer in the middle than around the edges.

The little Sony U10, on the other hand, does very well. The autofocus is efficient, objects are clear, a bit under-exposed perhaps, but the photo is good. This is a genuine digital camera! Pity it has no zoom lens yet.
