15. Viewing And Using Images
The viewing functions are complete and include a slide show mode. There's also D-Lighting (offering exposure and contrast correction) and the possibility of making cropped copies and reduced-size versions of the original image. These are useful tools if you want to print your shots directly from the camera.

The display is fairly standard but offers access to numerous functions.

D-Lighting can correct photos with less than optimum exposure.

It's possible to make cropped copies of your shots, which is very helpful for direct printing!
Power Supply And Connectivity
The S4 can use either regular or rechargeable LR6/AA batteries. In the version we tested, our S4 came with two Nikon-branded 2000 mAh NiMH batteries and a charger that's fairly sophisticated, including a discharge function. Naturally there's nothing to keep you from getting another set of batteries, not necessarily with the Nikon brand name. The S4 also has an interesting power-supply function that shows the type of batteries being used.

You can display the type of power source being used; a rare feature.
Connectivity is limited to a single port that accepts either the USB cable or the video/sound cable. An AC adapter can replace the batteries.
