General Imaging's Blink Detection Cameras

Las Vegas (NV) - Did you know that General Electric makes cameras? Well we didn’t know until we say their booth at the PMA 08 show in Las Vegas. The cameras are actually made by GE’s subsidiary General Imaging and this is the second year the company has been selling digital cams. General Imaging’s cameras are fairly standard when compared to other point and shoots like Canon, Casio and Panasonic, but they do offer some decent features at a reasonable price.

In terms of megapixels, the E1235 is the company’s king of the hill and takes pictures in up to 12 megapixels resolution. The camera has a 3X optical zoom ad a 2.7-inch LCD screen. What sets this camera apart from the competition is that it can take pictures at up to 3200 ISO. The camera also has blink and smile detection.

General Imaging is marketing its E1050 as its "flagship" model because it can record HD video and has a better 5X optical zoom. The E1050 can shoot 10 megapixel pictures and record 720P HD video to SDHC cards. A built-in Firewire port is something we don’t see on other cams.

The E1235 camera will sell for $229 in May while the E1050 will retail for $249.
