14. 3D Performance
Both the Travelmate 803LCi from Acer and the T40 from IBM feature the DirectX8-enabled mobile GPU (graphics processing unit) Mobility Radeon 9000. Acer's implementation racks up two extra points: first, with the GPU having 64 MB, it offers twice as much video memory as the T40, and second, Acer supplies the system with a far more recent driver version (6.14.01.6292).
Direct 3D Performance: 3D Mark 2001 SE
There's no disputing the fact that a large video memory and an up-to-date driver are good for 3D performance. In the Travelmate 803Lci, ATI's DirectX8-enabled GPU can show off just what it is capable of.
