12. Office Applications: SYSmark 2004 SE
The Sysmark 2004 SE benchmarks concentrate exclusively on determining a system's performance. Since battery life is completely irrelevant here, all tests are run with the computers hooked up to their power supplies. Like MobileMark 2005, SYSmark 2004 SE uses real applications for its benchmarks tests. A series of scripts are automatically executed to simulate typical user actions.
The SYSmark 2004 SE tests are divided into two benchmark scenarios, namely Internet content creation and office productivity. Within the Internet content creation suite there are three subgroups of tests: 2D content, 3D content and web publication. The office productivity scenario is also subdivided into three more groups of tests which are communication (email, calendar and web browsing), document creation and data analysis.
Just as in the overall performance rating in MobileMark 2005, all SYSmark 2004 SE scores are based on average response time and are correlated to those of a reference system using an average configuration. The reference system marks the standard, receiving 100 points in every test. Office productivity scores are not comparable between MobileMark 2005 and SYSmark 2004 SE.
Below you can once again find our SYSmark 2004 SE result diagrams for the Averatec AV1050 as well as the three other candidates, and our conclusions.
