4. The Candidate Up Close, Continued

In terms of number and type of interfaces, the device leaves little room for improvement. That said, there will be business users who will no doubt miss IR and Bluetooth ports. It just shows that the finest business cell phone available with BT interface is useless when combined with a notebook that doesn't let you wirelessly synchronize appointments and addresses.

Admittedly, the Bluetooth feature can be added later via the integrated SD/MM card slot, the USB port or the PC card slot. However, depending on the construction type, a module of this sort will cost as much as $100.

Memory upgrades for sub-notebooks are more expensive than usual since they often use Micro SO DIMMs, which few memory suppliers offer. Asus also uses this design, and our test model came with 512 MB of memory, which is standard for this model.

On top is a Micro SO-DIMM (172pin) from Apacer, underneath it an SO-DIMM from Infineon (200pin)

The upgrade is made via a Micro SO DIMM slot, which can be accessed by removing the two screws from the cover on the device's base.
