MobileMark 2005 Battery Life And Performance Rating: Conclusions
In the office productivity performance test, the Compaq NW8240 ranked fourth. Among other things, this is due to the fact that the driver of the mobile workstation is optimized for OpenGL applications, which makes Direct 3D applications run slower. Moreover, remember that due to the extremely high native display resolution of the NW8240, the number of pixels that have to be moved is much higher than on the other devices. Nevertheless, the device is very powerful and also performs well in normal office operation.
In terms of battery life, the laptop is absolutely impressive, except for the DVD playback test. Using the above-mentioned additional battery, which is simply strapped under the device, battery life can even be extended to up to an 8-hour workday.
