4. Conclusion

Oakley has undoubtedly broken new ground in the world of wearable electronics. Placing hundreds of songs right on the glasses seems like something out of the future; yet the future is here now and people are embracing it with open arms. However, the price might turn buyers right away. At a staggering $449 for the 1 GB version, many people will have to look deep to see if they really want to pay that much for only 1 GB of space considering that the same $449 can buy a 60 GB Apple iPOD, which has the capability of playing video as well as audio. So it really boils down to how important it is to have a lightweight, portable and cable free device that also has glasses attached to it.

I would not recommend buying this device for the sole reason that the price is too high. Then again, I am no Lance Armstrong nor do I find myself running everyday. I can thus see people buying these glasses for certain special uses when they want to enjoy their music collection. For those folks, Oakley makes excellent glasses. What is better than to incorporate a MP3 player for a cordless and lightweight dual-solution device?

We believe that Oakley should not stop at this point and would like to suggest future product generations to support Bluetooth for transferring data and for receiving calls from your cell phone. A wider range of frame styles with a smaller form factor would not be bad either. Although this may already be in the works, these features might indeed push this product from a luxurious amenity to a must-have product.
