10. Color Versus Monochrome

The Palm IIIc shines with its start menu in color. The Palm IIIc and the Vx run the same operating system Palm OS 3.5, and therefore also the same software.

In most cases you will see this blue-and-white screen as soon as you leave the colorful start screen by jumping to an application.

The Palm Vx offers the same functionality, but there is hardly any difference in price. The characters are black on a green background.

We experimented with a series of applications and only noticed differences in games.

You will only notice differences with games. They simply look nicer on a Palm IIIC.

The same game looks a little boring on the Palm Vx if you experienced it in color before.

The color capabilities of the Palm IIIc are currently limited to games. Naturally these games are not on the same level with a PC version or a game console. They serve more the purpose of killing time when on the road, for example when you have to wait somewhere. Nevertheless, you can get versions of Tetris, chess or simple shooting games. Although the Palm IIIc is a little bit heavier than its monochrome brother Palm Vx, the price difference is negligible. Therefore the Palm IIIc is definitely the better choice if functionality goes over size and weight in you opinion.
