3. Columns And Cabinet

In practice, the 6021 metallic gray acoustic columns act like satellites, each being fitted with six micro drives (a micro drive is a sort of mini-speaker containing a metallized membrane in the shape of an inverted dome). These columns are fixed to a sort of horizontal bracket that is used as the stand. The stands can be angled to a very limited extent to match the height of the listener's ears. Naturally, these columns are designed to be placed on either side of a screen, but it is also possible - by removing the brackets - to attach them to the wall, not forgetting that they absolutely must be at the right height.

The base cabinet, also in metallic gray, contains all the electronics and connections. It uses a 165 mm boomer - quite a small diameter for the 6021's category - loaded in bass-reflex. The vent is at the back, above the connector sockets.

The controls are all located on a small control panel, which has a rotating volume knob and very usable electronics, including a selector to make it possible to adjust the bass and treble. A blue diode scale displays these adjustments. There is a 3.5 mm jack socket on one side, for attaching headphones, and on the other side a socket offers auxiliary input. That's a great idea.

An infrared remote control is supplied, and although it has a membrane keypad, it's quite pleasant to use. Except that this remote is liable to interfere with certain Creative sound cards (that also use a remote). So if you have such a sound card, you will have to block off one of the receivers or arrange these items in such a way as to ensure that they do not receive an infrared signal simultaneously.

There is a line entry behind the cabinet on a 3.5 mm jack and another on the Cinch speakers. This means that two pieces of hardware can be linked simultaneously (a PC and a games console, for example).
