5. Testing

In line with our evaluation of the 2304LCi's specifications and features, all of our benchmark tests show the notebook to be well suited to basic home and office use.

We use three test suites to benchmark mobile computer battery life and performance: BAPCo's MobileMark 2005 and SYSmark 2004 SE, and FutureMark's PCMark05. We also test laptop and notebook screens for brightness, uniformity of brightness and contrast. In this section we present these tests. For details on the tests see How We Test Laptop and Notebook Computers for Home and Office .

The Acer looks a little lonely all by itself on the test results charts presented below. This is our first evaluation of mobile computers for home and office use under our new testing methodology. We did the 2304LCi test primarily so that the notebook can serve as a reference computer, to enable us to assess how new tests that may come along relate to our current tests. As we evaluate additional computers, our test charts will include sets of similar laptops or notebooks, making it easy for you to make comparisons that are useful in your mobile computer buying decisions.
